In 2010, Georgia Tech Savannah first sponsored a float in Savannah's St. Patrick's Day Parade, which attracts more than 400,000 spectators each year. The float quickly became a campus tradition.

Student Activities

Learning doesn’t end when students leave the classroom. Classroom activities and friendships overflow into social spaces. The Student Affairs Office at Georgia Tech Savannah collaborates with numerous student and community organizations to provide events that promote personal and professional development.

  • BuzzBreak is a weekly campus-wide coffee break for students, faculty and staff where everyone comes together to talk with friends and colleagues, shoot a game of pool or enjoy a free afternoon snack.
  • The Wreck Room is the GTS fitness center and offers treadmills, bikes, elliptical machines, a weight machine and individual shower rooms for working out between classes. Open 24/7 with Buzzcard access.
  • The Hive student lounge attracts students between classes with recreational diversions such a large flatscreen television, a pool table, ping pong, foosball and more
  • Virtual tailgates in Savannah to cheer on the Yellow Jackets as well as fieldtrips to Atlanta for football games
  • Savannah-specific traditions such as the GTS float in Savannah’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade which attracts 1,000,000 spectators in the second largest St. Patrick's Day celebration in the world!
