Health Services

 

Georgia Tech Savannah students have the option to visit a Physician Assistant from St. Joseph's Candler on-campus twice a week. Students needing health services during regular office hours may call the Physician Assistant through the Office of Outreach and Student Affairs.

  • St. Joseph’s/Candler does not directly charge students for anything at office visits.
    • *Any charges related to physician referral visits, specialized care services, x-rays, or lab services or prescription medications will be the responsibility of the student.
  • St. Joseph’s/Candlerwill not charge for services or any medications or supplies provided at office visits.
    • The student will be responsible for the cost of medications or supplies purchased elsewhere.
  • Services are not limited to students only, but include faculty, staff, or student’s dependents.

Denise McBroom, PA-C

Denise McBroom has been a Physician Assistant for 12 years after graduating with honors from the Medical College of Georgia in 1996. She started her career in Emergency Medicine and transitioned into Occupational/Wellness Medicine. Ms. McBroom is a member of AAPA, SCAPA and GAPA.

Denise McBroom is a true believer of preventative and wellness medicine with a focus on exercise and nutrition. She is excited to be a part of extending healthcare and wellness to Georgia Tech students.

CareCall Help

Carecall is a telephone health information/community resource referral center provided by St. Joseph's/Candler. It is staffed by specially trained registered nurses who respond to a wide array of health care concerns. CareCall makes credible, personalized health care information available to all community residents.

Information provided by CareCall is available at no cost, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. The service offers health care information, help in finding physicians, community resource information and referrals, health care orientation for new residents, and registration for SJ/C classes and seminars.

Afterhours Care:

Several clinics through St. Joseph's/Candler and others are available near campus for emergencies and afterhours care. These services are not covered through the Health Services at Georgia Tech Savannah.

Services for international students are provided locally and through the Atlanta Office of International Education.

Free Counseling Services

Georgia Tech Savannah has an arrangement with Savannah Psychiatry for students who would like to receive counseling or psychiatric services.
