THE SAVANNAH MORNING NEWS SUMMER CAMP EXPO 2011 PRESENTED BY GEORGIA TECH SAVANNAH

SAVANNAH, Ga. (March 23, 2011)—Mark your calendars for the third annual Savannah Morning News Summer Camp Expo presented by Georgia Tech Savannah coming up this Sunday, March 27 in the center court of Savannah Mall from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

With over 50 exhibitors, featuring four different Georgia Tech camps, you are bound to find something for your child to do this summer. Upon arrival at the Expo, the vendors will be able to answer all of your questions about the camps you or your kids are interested in. Bags will be provided so you can pick up information from your favorite camp providers. Bring your kids with you so they can ask questions as well as enjoy the entertainment that will be provided.

While summer is a time for fun, it can also be a time for learning. Come explore the exciting, but educational, summer camps provided by Georgia Tech Savannah. For Grade School children there’s the Creative Technology Camp. Creative students will use new technologies to express themselves.  Activities include storytelling through animation; interactive and programmable arts and crafts using LEGO robotics elements; LEGO robotics; and GPS treasure hunts for outdoor entertainment.

For Middle School students there’s a Creative Technology Camp that allows students to express themselves with activities that include storytelling through 2-D and 3-D animation; interactive and programmable arts and crafts; LEGO robotics; and GPS treasure hunts for outdoor entertainment.

For High School students there are two programs to choose from. The first is the Creative Technology Camp that gives students the opportunity to use new technologies to express themselves. The first week of camp will include storytelling through 2-D and 3-D animation, robotics, and GPS treasure hunts for outdoor entertainment.  No prior experience is necessary for the regular session.  The advanced camp will involve app development for smart phones.  Programming experience from 1st week of camp is needed for the advanced session.

The second camp, Savannah Engineering Academy, is provided for rising High School Juniors and Seniors.From computer engineering to protecting the local environment, the Savannah Engineering Academy introduces students to engineering disciplines, educational requirements and career opportunities.  Activities include tours of engineering and manufacturing facilities and hands on challenges with professional engineers. This camp is ideal for students exploring career and education options.
