Biography:

Dr. Bo Hong received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2005. Prior to that, he received his master and bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University, China in 2000 and 1997, respectively. Dr. Hong worked as an assistant professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Drexel University from 2005 to 2008. He joined the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Georgia Institute of Technology in Sep. 2008 as an assistant professor.

Dr. Hong's research interests are in the area of parallel and distributed computing. He has extensive research experience on parallel computer architecture and algorithms, modeling and simulation of adaptive applications in non-dedicated computing systems, algorithm design and scheduling techniques for heterogeneous systems, energy aware data gathering/processing in networked sensor systems, and memory hierarchy performance analysis and optimization. Dr. Hong's current research focus is on processor synchronization in multicore and multi-processor systems, which includes both hardware architectural design/modeling and the development of efficient multi-threaded algorithms. His research results have been published in IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, IEEE Transactions on VLSI, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing Journal, International Journal of Computers and Applications, as well as various international conferences.
