Yvette Upton joined the Georgia Tech-Savannah community in January 2010 after serving for 10 years as Director of the Women’s Resource Center on the Atlanta campus where she was promoted to Assistant Dean of Students in 2003. As Director of Outreach and Student Affairs in Savannah, Yvette is responsible for directing the overall vision and strategy for campus student services and outreach functions. She has provided direct supervision for the following functions at GT-S: marketing and communications, academic advising, auxiliary services, campus recreation, career services, counseling and health services, co-curricular activities, student campus life and K-12 educational outreach activities. Yvette sees herself as a collaborative leader inclusive of different viewpoints and perspectives and she works diligently to create a sense of community where ever she goes. Since arriving at Georgia Tech-Savannah, one of Yvette's favorite accomplishments has been securing a Georgia Tech-Savannah float in the city's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. She has a B.A. in journalism and an M.A. in women’s studies, both from Georgia State University, and her master's thesis was "Lasting Impressions: Viewing the Georgia Institute of Technology Experience Through the Lenses of First-Year and Senior Women." Yvette enjoys interacting with students and encouraging others to succeed.
