Did You Know?

Saturday Programs

Georgia Tech Savannah is pleased to offer Creative Technology Saturdays for students in grades 4-8.  Through the Saturday programs, students will be introduced to subjects such as computer animation, video game development, and LEGO® robotics.  Each session will focus on a different theme, such as Games Galore for video game development, Movies by Me with an emphasis on story development and presentation, and LEGO® Robotics challenge days.  We will also pilot new content within each theme for students with prior experience.

The programs will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Parents are welcome to attend, but it is not necessary.  The cost is $40 (lunch not included).

Program Goals and Elements

  • Provide enriching experiences for new students and new challenges for students with prior experience;
  • Pilot a technology passport system, in which students will earn passport stamps for various levels of accomplishment, allowing students, instructors and parents to follow student progress over time;
  • Pilot new open-ended challenges, allowing each student to explore areas of interest to him or her;
  • Provide more design challenges for the LEGO® robotics system, with a focus on student choice and on designing and building;
  • Test new supporting materials for scratch, helping instructors and students break big ideas down into smaller goals, with take-home materials documenting student approaches and progress;
