The last transfer students to Georgia Tech-Savannah were accepted for Fall 2011.
Can students cross register for classes at Georgia Tech-Savannah?
Yes, students in good standing at their partner school may cross register for a total of up to 10 credit hours, based upon completion of prerequisites, availability of courses, and number of seats in the course.
Will there be faculty available in Savannah to teach classes?
Yes. While some faculty may move before others, the course scheduling plan is looking to ensure sufficient faculty to provide quality instruction both in Savannah as well as available via technology. Few if any faculty will move prior to Summer 2012.
How does a student seek financial aid?
Georgia Tech will help students through this transition period and will seek methods to make their degree completion process successful. Students should contact the Georgia Tech Financial Aid Office for more information.
If I cannot complete my degree program by spring 2013, what do I do?
Please seek the guidance of your academic advisor as soon as possible. Your advisor will work with officials throughout Georgia Tech to find the best possible options for the successful completion of your degree program.
When will students know about courses planned to be offered through Spring 2013?
Georgia Tech has been working on a comprehensive plan of courses that will be available to students at the Savannah campus. This five-semester plan is now available to students and posted on the GTS website prior to advisement and registration. A list of courses for Spring 2012 is also available at this time.
I am a current Georgia Tech-Savannah student, and I would like to go to Atlanta to complete my degree. What do I need to do?
Meet with your academic advisor to initiate the process.
Will I have a Regional Engineering Program designator on my diploma if I transfer to Atlanta?
If you have fewer than 36 hours remaining before changing campuses to Atlanta, you will earn a Georgia Tech degree with the “Regional Engineering Program” designator.
I am an Engineering Alliance student. How do I transition to Atlanta to complete my Georgia Tech degree?
Engineering Alliance students have three options: 1) complete the EA program requirements and fill out an Intent to Enroll form; 2) switch to RETP at Armstrong to transfer to Atlanta under RETP requirements; or 3) apply to Georgia Tech (Atlanta) through the regular transfer process.
I want to tour the Georgia Tech Atlanta campus and find out more as I prepare to transfer. What do I need to do?
The Office of Undergraduate Admission offers two campus tours each day and transfer admissions sessions every Friday afternoon. In addition, Georgia Tech has transfer orientations for students that will provide a great overview of the things you need to know to be successful on the Atlanta campus. For Master of Science students, please talk to your graduate coordinators about your program of study and the courses needed to finish your degree. If you are a doctoral student, please speak with your faculty advisor.
I am currently in the GTREP program at a partner school. Will I be able to transfer to the Georgia Tech-Savannah campus as I originally planned?
No, new transfer students will not be accepted at the Savannah campus. GTREP, an engineering transfer program to Georgia Tech-Savannah, will be replaced by RETP, which is a transfer program for the Georgia Tech Atlanta campus. GTREP students in the pipeline at partner schools should follow the RETP requirements to transfer to Georgia Tech’s Atlanta campus to complete their degrees.
What happens to the students who are in Statesboro?
Classes will be broadcast to Statesboro through Spring 2012. Students may continue their Georgia Tech courses at the Georgia Tech-Savannah campus through Spring 2013 or choose to change to the Atlanta campus through their academic advisor. Speak with your academic advisor to determine your best options.
What if I have a unique situation where I cannot complete my degree if I must move to Atlanta?
Please talk with your coordinator at your current school. Georgia Tech officials will consider individual cases for possible alternatives.
